Take on our new fundraising challenge designed to test your courage, all while raising life-changing funds for Plymouth's NHS hospitals.
Saturday 21st MARCH 2026
Which path will you choose?
Path 1: The Fire Walk
As the afternoon fades to dusk, the gentle crackle of the glowing path will welcome you. Barefoot, you’ll cross 5 metres of glowing hot coals, reaching temperatures of around 1,200°F. It’s a challenge that requires focus, courage and determination but we'll have experts from UK Firewalk here to guide you safely through. It’s a chance to push your limits and feel like a champion.
This challenge is suitable for fundraisers aged 12 and over.
Path 2: The Lego Walk
Not quite ready for fire? That’s okay! The Lego Walk, which we’ll be running earlier in the afternoon, offers a fun and mischievous challenge for fundraisers aged 5 and over. Walk 3 metres across a bed of Lego bricks — parents, here’s your chance for a little payback! It’s a light-hearted way for the whole family to get involved.
Who will you do it for?
Whether it’s to thank a specific area of care that means a lot to you or to support the local hospitals looking after our community, this is your chance to make a difference and enjoy every moment of it!
For families and groups, you can book a mixture of these fundraising activities and make a whole afternoon of it!
Adults and children ages 12+ can brave the fire walk, while younger children (or anyone who’d rather keep their feet cool!) can enjoy the fun of the Lego walk. Please book each fundraising activity separately.

FAQs
FIRE WALK
-
The event is run by UK Firewalk. You will undergo training of around one hour before attempting the challenge —how to take quick steps and use mind over matter.
When the fire has burned to red-hot embers it is raked level and prepared for the walk. The embers will be glowing red-hot – we can often measure the temperature at around 1200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Participants will go to the fire, remove their footwear and one by one are invited to walk the coals.
-
Unfortunately no. We have limited spaces on each, and therefore you can only register to do one or the other.
You can, for example, register your child for the Lego Walk, and then register yourself for the Fire Walk afterwards, but it is not permitted to register one person for both events.
-
There is an inherent risk in any activity involving fire. It is important that participants pay attention to all the training and heed the advice and instruction of the trainer, firewatchers and spotters. Whilst absolute safety is not guaranteed, proper procedure reduces risk to the achievable minimum.
When done correctly, walking on hot coals is safe, won’t cause burns and should not be painful.
-
Minimum age of 12. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day.
All we ask if under 18 that they are mature enough to listen to the training and will require a parent or guardian to sign a form.
No-one is forced to walk on fire and we will not allow peer pressure.
-
There is no strenuous physical exercise involved. If you can walk normally then you should manage the Firewalk perfectly well. If you have any doubts, please consult your GP before attending.
The Fire Walk organisers have had many people walk who were pregnant, have diabetes, stroke survivors, blind and many other conditions. None have been an issue, however we always recommend if in doubt seek advice from your doctor.
-
Bare feet only for the walk. Please bring comfortable, warm clothing for before and after.
-
We ask everyone to aim for a minimum of £75 sponsorship. Every donation helps improve care at University Hospitals Plymouth.
-
After registering, we’ll help you create a personal or team fundraising page using Enthuse. It’s easy to share with friends and family to collect sponsorships online.
-
Absolutely! You can also collect sponsorships offline — through cash or cheque — and send them to us to add to your total.
-
We’re here to help every step of the way with fundraising advice, event details, and encouragement.
LEGO WALK
-
Lego walking is the act of walking across thousands of Lego blocks.
Participants go to the Lego – remove their footwear and one by one are invited to walk the Lego.
-
Minimum age of 5. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day.
All we ask if under 18 that they are mature enough to listen to the training and will require a parent or guardian to sign a form.

-
Yes! The event is professionally managed by UK Firewalk. It’s fully risk-assessed and designed to be a fun, low-risk activity.
It will not hurt, however it may feel uncomfortable. (The bigger you are, the more gravity will come into play)
