Perched on the rooftop of Derriford Hospital, you’ll face the breathtaking height and adrenaline-pumping challenge of abseiling down the main hospital building — a moment that will stay with you forever.

Your bravery will help fund cutting-edge equipment, improve patient areas and support the NHS heroes who care for our community every day. Thank you.

FAQs

  • There is no minimum age, but we suggest a minimum age of 12. This ensures that the equipment will fit. Under-16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the day.

  • Harnesses fit waist sizes between 58cm (22") and 120cm (47"). Unfortunately, anyone outside this range won’t be able to take part for safety reasons.

  • Access to the abseil point includes stairs and an uneven roof surface. If you have any mobility concerns, please get in touch — we’ll do our best to help.

  • You can let us know your preference (Saturday or Sunday) when registering. We’ll do our best to accommodate it, depending on availability.

  • The event is professionally managed by Devon Adventure, a licensed outdoor activity provider — so you’ll be in very safe hands!

  • Comfortable clothing and trainers are best. Please avoid loose items or jewellery. Bring waterproofs and warm clothes if the weather looks uncertain – you will be on the roof!

  • Yes — we ask everyone to aim for a minimum of £75 sponsorship. Every donation helps improve care at University Hospitals Plymouth.

  • Yes! You can register individually or as part of a team. Fundraising together is a great way to support each other and boost your impact.

  • After registering, we’ll help you create a personal or team fundraising page using Enthuse. It’s easy to share with friends and family to collect sponsorships online.

  • Absolutely! You can also collect sponsorships offline — through cash or cheque — and send them to us to add to your total.

  • We’re here to help every step of the way, with fundraising advice, event details, and encouragement.
