A charity funded App introduced at Derriford two years ago has proved to be a big hit with patients accessing health services in Plymouth.

Patients in our Intensive Care Unit at Derriford Hospital rely significantly on medical personnel for assistance. Because of the complexity of their condition, they are frequently intubated or have a serious disease that prevents them from speaking or moving.

An 18-month charity funded project to help NHS staff improve their mental health following Covid and lockdown has made important progress despite a backdrop of industrial action, staff sickness and operational pressures according to University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust.

Staff from the Postbridge day surgery and overnight recovery unit gathered on 21 March to celebrate the unveiling of two beautifully transformed pre-operative rooms for patients.

The Snowdrop Suite, a sanctuary for bereaved parents at Derriford Hospital, was officially opened on the 17 October 2023. The unit has been renovated to provide an improved environment for families who are suffering the sad loss of their baby.
