Staff Lottery Funds Wellbeing Day at the Child Development Centre
For staff at Plymouth’s Child Development Centre, a busy working day paused - just briefly - for calm, care and connection thanks to the staff lottery, which helps fund projects that support staff wellbeing and improved staff areas.

Amy Harvey recently applied for a staff lottery grant to organise a wellbeing afternoon onsite for her colleagues.
Asha and Nicky from Zen Fusion attended over two afternoons so that as many staff as possible could take part. Calming decor and gentle spa treatments helped staff switch off and relax.
Reflecting on the experience, Amy said:
“I’ve had so much positive feedback since the day. Everyone really enjoyed it and was surprised at how long 15 minutes felt. The room was decorated lovely.”
She added, “Spreading the sessions over two afternoons worked really well, as it gave more staff the opportunity to attend. Staff felt relaxed and valued, which was the aim.”
“I wasn’t aware that funding was available for wellbeing days or items for staff rooms until I spoke to Plymouth Hospitals Charity. I found it easy to fill the form out. You just need information about the day and why it will be beneficial and how much it will cost.”
