Staddon Heights Seniors Drive £4,212 for Derriford’s Children’s Wards. Putting Young Patients First

Senior golfers in Plymouth have helped make a big difference to young patients at Derriford Hospital, raising an impressive £4,212 for the hospital’s children’s wards.

Chris Baggot, Seniors Captain at Staddon Heights Golf Club, chose Plymouth Hospitals Charity as his Charity of the Year 12 months ago, with a clear focus on supporting children receiving care at Derriford Hospital.

Over the course of his captaincy year, the Seniors Section organised competitions, fundraising days and collections, bringing members together to raise vital funds. The result was a fantastic £4,212 donation dedicated specifically to enhancing the experience of young patients and their families.

At a recent presentation at the club, Chris and fellow members proudly handed over the cheque, marking the culmination of a year in which the Seniors were firmly focused on putting children first.

Chris said: “The seniors are always keen to help youngsters. We wanted to support the children’s wards because we know how important it is for young people and their families to feel comfortable and cared for during what can be a worrying time.”

The funds will help support projects on the children’s wards that go above and beyond NHS provision from specialist equipment to enhancements that create a brighter, more welcoming environment for young patients.
