Plymouth Hospitals Charity welcomed senior colleagues from Mitie Projects MEP to Derriford Hospital for an on-site visit and presentation, celebrating their recent fundraising success and their early commitment to supporting the future Big Dreams Appeal.
Mitie’s recent charity dinner and golf day raised an impressive total of £5,350 for Plymouth Hospitals Charity. The day was full of energy, generosity and genuine goodwill. Fundraising highlights included a competitive heads and tails game, which alone raised nearly two thousand pounds, and a raffle where supporters were buying multiple strips at ten pounds each. Nikki Preston from Mitie, who organised the event, travelled the course in a golf buggy displaying a QR code, stopping at every hole to encourage donations.
“Mitie MEP know how to put on a fundraising event. I went home with a huge smile on my face. It was a brilliant and very enjoyable evening, but also deeply moving to see how committed they are to supporting our charity,” said Corinne Smith, Head of Charity. “Their enthusiasm is infectious and working with them is an absolute joy.”
Funds raised by Mitie will form part of the first philanthropic contributions to the Big Dreams Appeal, which is currently in planning. The appeal will launch formally in 2026 and aims to transform the future of children’s healthcare environments, starting with the new children’s emergency department. The aim is to provide improved spaces, environments and experiences for children and families that go beyond standard NHS provision.
Representing Mitie on the visit were Mark Wrobel, National Director and Martin Hamilton, Operations Manager. They met Dr Stuart Windsor, Programme Director for Our Future Hospital, who said:
“We are really fortunate to have a major investment in our new hospital, which will bring benefits to the people of Plymouth, as well as the wider peninsula. The Big Dreams appeal will build on this core investment to allow us to make truly spectacular spaces that support the needs of children and their families, that goes well beyond what the NHS can achieve using core funding. I am really grateful to Mitie for choosing to partner with us at this early stage to raise funds for this important cause.”
Mitie’s support forms part of their social value commitment and aligns with their role within the Future Hospitals Programme development.
Mark Wrobel, National Director, said:
“Our partnership with Plymouth Hospitals Charity is driven by a shared vision of brighter tomorrows. We’re proud to have supported the Big Dreams Appeal from its inception and committed to continuing this journey of impact and transformation.”
Corinne added:
“We look forward to welcoming Mitie back on site often. If they want to run further fundraising events or involve more of their colleagues, we will happily work with them to come up with fun and interesting ideas.”
