Go Team NHS Blue Wave!

On Sunday 17 May, we cheered for Team Blue Wave as they took on the Plymouth 10k and half marathon at the Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival. Over 90 runners joined the challenge, raising more than £12,500 for Plymouth Hospitals Charity.

The NHS Blue Wave, now in its second year at the running festival, is a celebration of our local NHS, bringing together NHS staff, former patients and their families, and supporters from across Plymouth. It’s all about coming together as one supportive team, having fun, helping to support people at our hospitals, and enjoying the positive benefits of running and exercise.

The atmosphere at the Britain’s Ocean City Running Festival is always incredible, with thousands of runners taking part and spectators lining the streets. It’s inspiring to see people push themselves and achieve their goals for reasons close to their hearts.

The money raised by our amazing runners will support life-changing care across University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, funding cutting-edge equipment, healing and welcoming spaces, local research and the small extras that make a big difference to patients and families across every stage of life.

A huge thank you to all our runners, and to everyone who donated, supported and cheered them on along the route - you’re all brilliant!

And if you’re looking for your next challenge, the Derriford Abseil is back this September!
